Following the 2008 Oldenburg Regional Championships in Rastede, Germany, July 24-27, 2008, the Oldenburg verband was able to make a selection of the Oldenburg riding horses that will compete at the 2008 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf, Germany.

The qualified Oldenburg riding horses are:

3-year old stallions:

" Sir Rubin (by Sir Donnerhall-Rubinstein), Breeder: Marion Menck, Rübehorst

" Sieger Hit (by Sandro Hit-Donnerhall), Breeder: Georg Sieverding, Emstek

" Statesman (by Stediger-Donnerschwee), Breeder: Ann Kitchel, USA-Vermont (pictured)

We are very proud and excited to announce that "Statesman" has been chosen by the Oldenburg Verband to participate in the Bundeschampionat to be held in Warendorf, Germany September 3-7. He will be ridden by his trainer Clemens v. Merveldt from Gut Fuechtel in Vechta. Both Gut Fuechtel and Huntington Farm are incredibly proud of this accomplishment. If interested there are several riding horses, prospects and broodmares available for sale at Gut Fuechtel.  Please contact us for further information

The dream no breeder ever dares to dream was realized for the American breeder, Ann Kitchel of Huntington Farm in Vermont. Seven years ago she bought a young mare at an Oldenburg auction almost on a whim, and decided to keep her with her breeder, the Graf von Merveldt, to see how breeding horses in Germany would go. Well, that mare had a foal 3 years ago that took everyone's breath away, and just broke the price record selling to a very excited group from Luxembourg.

At the incredible young age of 3 years old, this stallion impressed everyone at the Bundeschampionate winning the bronze medal, and then throughout the auction training sessions he just seemed to get better and stronger. The trainers from Lux Dressage, Sascha Schulz and Christoph Umbach accompanied their partner Michael Waehnert to the auction, and together they bought not only Statesman, but the outstanding pony stallion, Hennes (Henry x Laura (Balthasar)), and the wonderful gelding, Fürstengruss (Fürst Heinrich x Katara (Welt Hit II)). They will be standing Statesman (Stedinger x St.Pr.St. Weissendra (Donnerschwee)) at Ludwig Kathmann's in North Germany.

Ann Kitchel was in the audience during the bidding and the emotions of she and her friends were those of disbelief to incredible happiness and pride. She was joined by Clemens August Graf von Merveldt on her right, Vanessa Spencer to Clemens' right, and Meredith Meade to Ann's left. The couple sitting in front of her was Deborah Fallender and Dane Lawrence. Deborah also was happy about selling her filly in this auction, Rose of America (Royal Diamond x Algave (A Jungle Prince)), who was also born at the Merveldt's farm
